What to do
-
First things first, if there are any people present that could potentially serve as witnesses, make sure to obtain their information.
-
Always make sure to make note of anything pertaining to the officer(s). This could be their name, their badge information, etc.
-
Make sure you file an official complaint after the incident.
-
Although I have emphasized the phrase: "you have the right to remain silent" many times thus far, this part is optional. If you feel that you have been harmed, you should at the least warn the officer(s) of this.
-
Always document any physics harm you faced, whether this is a picture or description. As always, if you are severely injured, you can request for medical attention.
- There is not much to say here, other than the officer(s) can detain you and still have the ability to do things usual of an officer.
