Teen Rights-About Us

How I Got My Start

Since participating in various programs such as Teen Court and Model UN, I developed an interest and passion for the law. I knew that somehow, I wanted to use this knowledge in law that I had gained to use, but I did not know how.

Then, I thought about the fact that there are so many teenagers that are not educated about the law and what to do in certain situations - especially with law enforcement. This lack of knowledge of the law usually results in situations that a lot of these teenagers do not deserve.

This is why I built this website: to educate teenagers on the law and what rights they have.

My First Speech

One of my favorite pastimes growing up was going on neighborhood walks and conversing with anyone I met. After a few friendly interactions, one of the individuals I’d spoken to informed my dad of our conversations and discouraged me from continuing to talk to strangers.

As the years went on, I would share this story with my teachers, and oftentimes, they would be amused. However, my fourth-grade teacher had a different reaction; she suggested that I enroll in our school’s speech contest and I did. After participating in this event ( video ), my interest in public speaking and debate piqued. Now, I enjoy my time attending public service and law programs like Teen Court, which educates high school juniors on how to give back to their community while developing team and leadership skills.

Integrating my interests in public policy and law, I centered my website around educating teenagers about the rights they hold and how to act in certain situations, such as encounters with law enforcement. I hope to grow this site into a one-stop-shop for teenagers to learn about essential teen rights and serve as a portal containing easy access to all juvenile cases across the states.
